Q3 Audience analysis for each of the two contexts. Who will consume the work?

Magazine/Newspaper

Many magazines reach out to a large audience which normally consists of a variety of different people. For example, males are much more prone to reading ‘lads mags’ such as ‘Nuts’ and ‘Zoo’. Whereas females are much more likely to read fashion magazines like ‘Vogue’. Empire magazine for example reaches out to males and females, most likely because it is discussing films, which most people are interested in. The majority of people that read Empire are from the age 15 – 44 demographic. More men read Empire than women but there are still a large number of women that do read it.

Exhibition/Gallery

Tate Modern Gallery has a vast number of different visitors. The Tate Modern has a staggering 4,788,000 visitors in 2009. Surprisingly, 52% of its visitors were between the ages of 17 – 34. Maybe unsurprisingly, 42% of visitors were male and 58% female. An average of 41% of visitors were on their first visit, and 58% were repeat visitors.
